Friday night soccer: Kicks Indoor Soccer & Gym, 611 Shepherd Drive, hosts open play Fridays from 11 p.m.-1 a.m. Cost is $10 per person.
HTA college scholarships: Five college scholarships are available through the Houston Tennis Association for graduating students who have participated in high-school varsity tennis, local and/or USTA Texas Section tournaments. Two $2,000 Gallery Furniture/HTA scholarships and one Hewlett-Packard HTA/NJTL (National Junior Tennis League) scholarship for $2,000 are available for a boy or girl who has participated in the HTA/NJTL program for at least two years. A $1,000 scholarship offered by the Houston Racquet Club Women's Association teams is available for a young woman, and a West Houston Ladies Tennis Association scholarship, at an amount to be determined, is available for a boy or a girl. Selection of all students will be based on need, grades, tennis participation and citizenship. The deadline to apply is June 30. Applicants will be required to submit information about their tennis background, a high school transcript, a brief paragraph describing why the scholarship is deserved, two short letters of recommendation (one from a teacher, principal, counselor or tennis mentor or coach and one from a family friend or employer) and parent or guardian financial information (copy of 1040 for 2008). Dynamo Charities Corporate Cup: The Dynamo Charities Corporate Cup is a new 7-on-7 tournament featuring men's and coed divisions that benefits the Methodist Cancer Center. The first round will take place July 18, and finals will be held July 25 at Robertson Stadium prior to the Dynamo/New England game. Participating teams receive 50 sideline tickets for the July 25 game, an invitation to the tourney kickoff event at Lucky's Pub and on-field recognition at the July 25 game. Winning teams receive the Dynamo Corporate Cup, presented and donated by Tiffany & Co.
Dynamo Academy donations: Donate at least $100 to help defray the Dynamo Academy's traveling costs for its European tour, and you'll be entered into a drawing to win an all-expenses paid trip to accompany the Academy this August to Scotland, England and Spain. Southwest Indoor Soccer summer session: Southwest Indoor Soccer Center (SWIS) in Stafford is looking for women's, coed and men's teams/players of all ages. SWIS is located at 12950 Sugar Ridge Blvd, near Murphy Road and West Airport in Stafford. SWIS features new field turf. Adult teams pay $680 each for eight games, including ref fees; youth teams pay $730 including ref fees. Individual player fee is $70. Dynamo volunteers needed: The Houston Dynamo is looking for volunteers, known as the Blue Crew, at Robertson Stadium on game day. The more games worked, the more Dynamo-related rewards earned. Minimum age is 18.

Women's Texas Golf Association 2009: The WTGA has officially announced a site change for the 2009 State Amateur Championship. The 2009 Championship will be held at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco. The course was the host of the 2007 Big XII Women's Golf Championship, as well as the annual host of the famous Starburst Junior Classic. The 2009 WTGA schedule is Four-Ball Championship-The Bandit GC, New Braunfels, June 29-July 1; State Amateur Championship-Ridgewood CC, Waco, July 27-31; Senior Stroke Play Championship-White Wing, Georgetown, Oct. 12-15.
Super Seniors Tennis League starting: Super Senior Plus League for men and women ages 70 and older is being formed by the Houston Tennis Association. Teams, ranging from a 6.0 to 9.0 levels, will consist of a minimum of six players of the same gender. The cost per player for the season is $15 plus a $3 Tennis Link registration fee. Players also must be HTA and USTA members.
